Kate Cochrane 2017

Artist’s Statement

As a painter Kate transforms what she sees into a mosaic of shapes and colour, considering hue, tone and composition. Local Somerset landscapes, visits to Tasmania, Wales, and the Borders provide a wealth of images. Kate enjoys the play of ground and fore ground, texture, the shapes and spaces between elements, resulting in a rich tapestry of contrast and colour. Her current work includes derelict castles and abbeys.

Kate gained a Diploma in Graphic Design at Canterbury College of Art followed by local courses in Fine Art and in colour work. She’s exhibited paintings since 1980, designed home accessories, and recently been tutoring and running workshops.
