Somehow 4 months have passed since exhibiting in the Round Tower in Frome. It was a successful event and I sold some paintings as well as lots of cards. Quite a number of people visited and enjoyed looking at the range of work I had on show. This included a selection of childhood drawings, college work, Pure Rooster home accessory designs and paintings over a number of years.
Over the last year I have been working with the Areté Visual Art Group producing work for ‘Footprints of the Abbey’, an exhibition starting at Glastonbury Abbey on 10th February. There will a great variety of work from a number of artists including icons, relics, paintings, scrolls and paintings done in response to the Abbey and its environs.
I have submitted 3 pieces including ‘Abbey Kitchen’ plus, during January I finished an embroidery based on medieval floor tiles ‘Abbey Tiles’. The exhibition runs til 21st May
The ‘Angles & Aspects’ exhibition is now underway in the Round Tower at the Black Swan Arts in Frome. There is a variety of work starting from an early age to the present. One artist I met when staying with my grandma was Jean de la Fontinelle who kindly gave me 4 caran d’ache oil pastels with which I did my first abstract. I kept them for a long time! I think he must have quite an influence as I do remember watching him work and being quite awe-struck.
The collection includes college projects from the Graphic Design degree course at Canterbury College of Art I attended, some dolls’ house furniture made and sold in East Sheen, painted pots from 20 years ago, dachshund brooches, plus many paintings, prints, cards and household accessories.
